  • VicSpirit continue T20 run - VicSpirit
handsome figures of 4 15 from her four overs to lead the VicSpirit in keeping the Fire to the modest 119 Delissa Kimmince and Kirby Short were the main contributors for the Fire with 21 and 20 respectively Kath Hempenstall Kristen Beams Emily McIntyre and Briana Binch all chipped in with a wicket each in the impressive bowling effort The VicSpirit run chase got away to a forgettable start losing opener Elyse Villani cheaply followed by Jess Cameron who made 16 from 15 balls The innings was led by Meg Lanning who again topped the scoring with an impressive 56 from 43 deliveries which included six fours Lanning shared an unbroken 66 run partnership with Kelly Applebee to steer the Victorians to the win at 3 121 after 16 5 overs WNCL skipper Applebee finished with 39 off 35 balls and four boundaries VicSpirit captain Emma Inglis said the win was an encouraging performance It was good to bounce back after yesterday and get a good win today Inglis said Early wickets are always key to setting up the innings and Molly did an amazing job to come and not only take those four wickets but also to restrict the runs as well set us up well It was good to keep them to 119 the ropes at the Gabba were men s size so boundaries were going to be hard to come by so we still needed to work hard to get that We lost a couple of quick wickets but Meg was able to stay out there and really took on the bowlers and hit boundaries She was well supported by Kelly coming in at the end those sorts of partnerships are match winning partnerships and to get there with overs to spare helps us as well Inglis
