    faltered Earlier VicSpirit s opening pair of Meg Lanning and Elyse Villani got the side off to a flyer progressing to 0 30 after five overs before Lanning was caught for a run a ball 21 That wicket triggered a collapse from Victoria with Villani following shortly after for 11 27 and Emma Inglis run out for one after a mix up with Jess Cameron The brakes were applied to the VicSpirit innings with 17 runs scored in 10 overs before the pressure tolled on Cameron who was bowled for seven leaving the side 4 47 That brought Applebee and Elliott to the crease who showed all their experience in consolidating early in the partnership before lifting the run rate later The lower order failed to capitalise on the platform built by the pair with the side falling from 5 189 after 42 overs to be all out for 209 six overs later The Queensland openers looked in control from the moment the entered the crease and it wasn t until the 25 th over that VicSpirit made their first breakthrough with Kristen Beams enticing Bulow out of her crease and Emma Inglis whipping off the bails A run out

    they reached 1 84 at lunch The interval did not bode well for Lanning who was run out shortly after the resumption for 48 including eight boundaries Despite Lanning s departure Jess Cameron picked up where her VicSpirit teammate left off partnering Elliott for an 80 run third wicket stand before being dismissed LBW immediately after posting her maiden Test half century The day belonged to Elliott however as she shepherded the Southern Stars to safety alongside Alex Blackwell 29 not out I tell you what a couple of times I thought I could just duck one over the top Elliott said with her century in sight But I was a bit tired towards the end to be honest I ll be pleased to have a sleep and hopefully be able to finish it tomorrow I m really really pleased to be back in the team it s a great group to be around and it s really nice to know that I can contribute in this format of the game The bowlers I thought did a great job bowling really tight lines The pitch definitely had a bit in it early which is really exciting for our bowlers But

    VicSpirit teammate Jess Cameron continued her solid form in Sri Lanka by chipping in with 17 off 15 With the Southern Stars posting 5 144 Julie Hunter provided the early breakthrough as she combined with Australian captain Jodie Fields to dismiss Laura Marsh Hunter finished with 1 17 from her three overs but with VicSpirit teammate Danni Wyatt blazing for England with an unbeaten 33 from 17 balls the target was reached with 11 balls to spare It felt like we were right in the match right up until the last couple of overs Fields said Our batting innings went the way we wanted it to do we aimed for 140 and we got that target We have a really strong batting order and we can bat from one to eleven and I was really happy with the batting performance today I guess we need to come out of this loss now and train hard over the next two days and look towards the next match The West Indies are a strong team and we were lucky enough to play them in a warm up match which gave us an idea about how we can play against them Australia will
