  • Cameron and Lanning ready for Rose Bowl - VicSpirit
    Final in the World Twenty20 decider in October and Lanning having scored a record five successive scores over 30 in the T20 format Lanning who has also posted record WNCL and VWCA innings in the past month says she is excited about the up coming tournament I m really looking forward to it Lanning said I ve had a good domestic season so far as has the rest of the team so we re really excited to be out there I started off quite slowly I thought until I got to that innings of 175 which was pleasing for me I m really looking forward to playing well first up tomorrow and carrying that through the series New Zealand is a great team and a really serious contender for the World Cup so if we can get four wins and play some really good cricket that will give us some confidence Cricket Australia announced earlier today that it will live stream the Rose Bowl providing cricket fans with the perfect opportunity to view the series The Southern Stars take on New Zealand from 10am today To view live streaming of the Rose Bowl click here Schedule Wednesday December 12 2012

    started well claiming Victorian captain Ellyse Villani for a duck in the second over after Villani had won the toss and elected to bat But while Jess Cameron 11 Sarah Elliott six and Emma Inglis 10 all struggled for runs Lanning was dominating the Queensland attack down the other end before teaming up with Applebee to blitz the Fire s bowler as Victoria made 259 from their 50 overs Kirsten Pike was the best of the Queensland bowler s taking 3 35 from 10 overs which included the prize wicket of Lanning although not without some hefty damage being done Although the Fire may have lost Friday s rain affected Twenty20 clash to the Spirit under the Duckworth Lewis system the Queenslanders have been in good form so far this season with opener Melissa Bulow in imperious touch However Victoria managed to take Bulow s wicket for 19 as the Spirit made a grand start to their innings in the field Indeed the Victorians took a key wicket with just the second ball as Beth Mooney was run out for a duck before Jess Jonassen fell for four in the seventh over When Bulow fell to Kath Hempenstall 2 36

    winning the toss and electing to bat first It looked like being the wrong decision as they slumped to 3 20 in the fifth over as Danielle Wyatt 5 Meg Lanning 6 and Sarah Elliott 0 all went cheaply But a vital fourt wicket stand between Jess Cameron 56 from 51 and Kelly Applebee 34 steadied the ship for the visitors Some hefty late hitting from Emma Inglis 16no off 8 enabled the Commonwealth Bank VicSpirit to get to 6 128 with just two balls left in their innings before a heavy storm hit forcing the players from the field After an hour s delay the Breakers were set 42 runs to win from five overs under the Duckworth Lewis System but reached 0 6 in one over before more heavy rain arrived forcing an early end to the match The no result keeps the Breakers on top of the T20 competition ladder on 14 points equal with the Queensland Fire while the VicSpirit are third on 11 points The Breakers are next in action against the Fire on December 16 at Drummoyne Oval while the VicSpirit travel to South Australia to play the Scorpions on the same day 04

    before ACT opener Katie Mack and Sara Hungerford put on 33 runs for the third wicket The Meteors struggled to build a partnership after Briana Binch claimed Hungerford s wicket for 16 with Mack posting a respectable 39 before 100th gamer Elliot drew her out of her crease only to be stumped by Emma Inglis The Meteors didn t gain much more momentum after the Mack dismissal bowled out for 168 in the final over of the innings Kristen Beams took figures of 3 38 however Hunter was the pick of the bowlers seizing figures of 2 10 from 6 2 overs Molly Strano 2 35 Binch 1 26 and Elliott 1 12 were the other wicket takers for Victoria Elyse Villani s run of form ended when she was dismissed first ball of the innings to a sharp catch at point by Hungerford A 49 run partnership between Meg Lanning 22 and Jess Cameron 24 helped Victoria get off the mark before Lanning was dismissed Cameron went onto score a further 23 runs as she raced to 47 including seven fours to build a 54 run partnership with Elliott Applebee 25 and Bree Binch 13 finished off the run
