high quality tennis Since the 5 setter round one Almagro has definitely played himself into form playing some high quality tennis on his way to the quarter final David Ferrer has been finding some trouble on his serve at times but a mark of a quality player is how they can play themselves out of trouble Ferrer has done that although facing 33 break points through the first four rounds isn t ideal compared to just the 12 on the serve of Almagro This is sure to be an incredibly entertaining match to watch Previous Meetings Ferrer leads 12 0 4 0 on hard Of those hardcourt matches Almagro won a set on 2 occasions and pushed 4 sets out of 11 to tiebreaks and 2 other sets to 7 5 The Final Word This line will move I can almost guarantee it Almagro is playing too well for this line to be this low regardless of what kind of head to head record between them Almagro is serving better than I have witnessed for some time He is serving bombs and following it up with some incredibly impressive groundstrokes Ferrer isn t playing as well as the statistics and scorelines suggest Nishikori was horrible the other day and injured or not his head wasn t in the game for the majority of the match The 12 0 h2h is big to overcome but when you focus in on the hardcourt matches this match is a lot closer The serve of Almagro is a definite weapon in the hardcourt surface compared to the clay and he has been serving magnificently dropping it only three times through the first four round He has only dropped 2 sets for the tournament and both of them have been in tiebreaks Whilst I agree that Ferrer is one of the best return of serves in the game I will be mighty surprised is Almagro doesn t get his fair share of opportunities on the serve of Ferrer too The only way I can see this losing is if Almagro loses the plot mentally He has been playing some magnificent tennis of late I have stopped short of tipping up Almagro at 5 but I genuinely think he will do more than hold his own This line should be around the 37 39 line not 33 5 Suggested Bet Over 33 5 games at 1 83 at Sportsbet Confidence 70 H2H Ferrer leads 12 0 A Radwanska 4 vs N Li 6 What a great match this is promising to be 2 top players in top form going head to head for a place in the 2013 Australian Open Semi Final Let s start with arguably the hottest WTA player of 2013 so far Agnieszka Radwanska Agnieszka Radwanska is currently on an impressive 13 game winning streak Of those 13 games Radwanska has not dropped a single set The last time Radwanska dropped a set was back in October 2012 in her loss to Maria

  • Bernard Tomic vs Roger Federer » The Profits | The Profits
full of confidence Bernard Tomic claims that he is ready to tackle Roger Federer at Grand Slam level sound familiar All one way traffic here again Tomic held his own until the 9 th service game where he was broken to 30 by Federer Federer then got two breaks in each of the next two sets to be on his way to the quarter final winning in 104 minutes Note that in this match Tomic actually served 75 of his first serves in but just couldn t get anywhere near Federer Meeting 3 Round of 16 Cincinnati Masters August 2012 Result Federer d Tomic 6 2 6 4 Once again one way traffic for Federer facing no break points on his way to victory Once again Tomic served a high percentage of first serves in 67 but just couldn t get near Federer It is to be noted that this fell during a period where Tomic s confidence was at rock bottom and his performance was being questioned on a weekly basis SUMMARY The strangest stat from the Federer game was probably the unforced errors outweighing the winners on Federer s side of the net Now personally I am on the belief that if you can do that and still face zero break points for the entire match against Davydenko then he is doing a lot of things right even with the high unforced error count Tomic has made it through without being overly convincing even if he wants us to think otherwise Leonardo Mayer turned up with one functioning hand and simply wanted the winnings for making the first round There is one massive issue I have with Tomic from his win over Brands and that is where Tomic was placing himself in the court when receiving We know that Federer isn t going to give Tomic an easy service game as seen by the stats in previous meetings so Tomic is going to have to attack the serve of Federer a lot better than he attacked Brands Look back at some of the highlights and you will see a number of instances where Tomic would find himself standing as far back as the Melbourne sign you see on the court on Rod Laver Arena That won t cut it against Federer Federer is way to crafty and way to strategic to let Tomic get away with that too Look for Federer to shake things up a bit here against Tomic We know Tomic is one of the best in the ATP when it comes to variation in shotmaking but we also know that Federer is one of the best in the business at every aspect of the modern game I think people are reading too much into Tomic s comments and not enough into Federer s We all know what lengths Tomic will go to to get his name up in lights and trying and put off his opposition What we also know is when someone gets Roger

get the better of him and that is rarely a good thing Lucky for Janowicz he took an injury timeout and started to gain a bit more control of his temper before going on to win That being said he was broken to love in the 5 th set when serving for the match at 5 3 in the fifth set so he certainly struggled to put the match away Almagro has just done as much as required so far In his first match vs Johnson there was never really a time where I genuinely thought he was going to lose as he only lost his serve twice earlier on in the match Admittedly his tiebreak performances weren t flash but Johnson played some quality tennis Summing up this match I think Almagro has a clear clear advantage His craft ball placement and use of spin and variation should be too much to handle From what I have seen of Jerzy he likes the ball coming on to the racquet hard and Almagro isn t going to give that to him consistently Suggested Bet Almagro 2 5 games at 1 73 at Sportsbet Confidence 70 H2H No previous meetings Kevin Anderson vs Fernando Verdasco Playtime 3 rd on Hisense Arena Review of Round 1 Matches Player Opponent Kevin Anderson vs Paolo Lorenzi Fernando Verdasco vs David Goffin Score 3 6 7 6 6 3 6 4 6 3 3 6 4 6 6 3 6 4 Time on Court 174 minutes 202 minutes 1st Serves in 101 134 75 83 141 59 1st Serves pts won 74 101 73 60 83 72 2nd Serve pts won 18 33 55 31 58 53 Break pts saved 4 7 57 8 13 62 Break points won 3 8 38 6 9 67 Review of Round 2 Matches Player Opponent Kevin Anderson vs Andrey Kuznetsov Fernando Verdasco vs Xavier Malisse Score 6 1 7 5 6 4 6 1 6 3 6 2 Time on Court 106 minutes 117 minutes 1st Serves in 66 90 73 53 74 72 1st Serves pts won 53 66 80 36 53 68 2nd Serve pts won 12 24 50 13 21 62 Break pts saved 2 2 100 4 6 67 Break points won 4 9 44 8 15 53 Summary Going to keep this one short Anderson is serving probably better than he ever has in his career and that is a massive thing to do Verdasco is going to get no cheap points today especially on the serve of Anderson Verdasco zoomed through the second round matchup with Malisse but to be honest Malisse was more of a no show Malisse had 14 winners to 45 unforced errors compared to Verdasco s 31 winners and 30 unforced errors They aren t great numbers by Verdasco especially when you compare it to Anderson s 39 winners and 16 unforced errors in his second round matchup Although Hopman Cup matches aren t the best indicator Anderson

a fantastic performance on Friday Almagro faced no break points and only dropped 18 points in 16 service games Previous Meetings May 2012 Round 4 French Open Result Almagro d Tipsaravic 6 4 6 4 6 4 This result occurred on Almagro s preferred surface of clay and he got the job done comfortably He won even though he was serving at 50 of first serves compared to 69 from Tipsaravic December 2012 Abu Dhabi Exhibition Result Almagro d Tipsaravic 2 6 7 6 6 2 This match occurred in the first proper outing of the season leading up to 2013 This was a semi final and Tipsaravic had just come from defeating Andy Murray in straight sets Almagro was awarded victory through to the SF by default due to opponent withdrawal Because this was the first professional hitout for Almagro for the season you can justify the first set going to Tipsaravic due to Almagro getting the cobwebs out Having watched that game it certainly appeared as if that was the case Almagro fought back in the second set taking it in a tiebreak before breaking twice in the 3 rd set to make the Abu Dhabi exhibition final The Final Word Taking into consideration the performances of both players this tournament it is incredibly hard to go beyond Nicolas Almagro He is serving brilliantly and has only dropped his serve 3 times in 11 sets with the only losing sets coming in tiebreaks meaning when he is broken he has either broken personally already or claws the break back at some point during the set In terms of time on court Tipsaravic has spent just under 3 and a half hours more on court which is a pretty massive difference after only three matches My prediction here is for Almagro to get the job done in 4 close sets Suggested Bet Almagro H2H at 1 72 at Sportsbet 5 set refund Confidence 70 H2H Almagro lead 2 0 Kei Nishikori vs David Ferrer Playtime 2 nd on Rod Laver Arena Review of Round 1 Matches Player Opponent Kei Nishikori vs Victor Hanescu David Ferrer vs Olivier Rochus Score 6 7 6 3 6 1 6 3 6 3 6 4 6 2 Time on Court 159 minutes 110 minutes 1st Serves in 89 121 74 48 71 68 1st Serves pts won 63 89 71 37 48 77 2nd Serve pts won 18 32 56 15 23 65 Break pts saved 4 6 67 3 5 60 Break points won 7 16 44 6 15 40 Review of Round 2 Matches Player Opponent Kei Nishikori vs Carlos Berlocq David Ferrer vs Tim Smyczek Score 7 6 6 4 6 1 6 0 7 5 4 6 6 3 Time on Court 138 minutes 158 minutes 1st Serves in 67 97 69 65 108 60 1st Serves pts won 48 67 72 48 65 74 2nd Serve pts won 15 30 50 24 43 56 Break pts saved 2

Round 4 3 1 Round 5 3 1 Round 6 3 1 Round 7 2 2 Round 8 2 2 Semi Finals 1 1 Total to date 22 12 Final Perth Scorchers 1 58 vs Brisbane Heat 2 39 at the WACA Ground Saturday January 19 th Starting Time 17 00 local The Perth Scorchers lead all encounters 2 0 Previous Encounter December 18 th 2012 Brisbane Heat 4 109 from 13 1 overs Lynn 51 Christian 37no Thomas 2 15 Beer 2 17 Perth Scorchers 1 51 from 4 2 overs Coulter Nile 23no The Scorchers won by 9 wickets There isn t much to take from the previous encounter of these two teams earlier in the tournament The match was marred by rain after the Heat were beginning to build what was looking like being an above par score Duckworth Lewis again came up with an easier than expected formulation with Nathan Coulter Nile finishing a slow start with a blistering 23 from 6 balls The Perth Scorchers have continued to improve with every match they play despite mainly relying on Shaun Marsh and its well structured bowling attack to perform consistently The depth of the batting has certainly strengthened with Mike Hussey coming in for the semi final and taking on wicketkeeping duties mean the inconsistent Triffitt has been dropped Adam Voges looks in great touch while Katich and North have been solid when needed While the bowlers had their first real off day in the semi final with a slippery ball Thomas Coulter Nile Beer and Hogg probably offer the best flexibility in the league and share 40 wickets between them while Behrendorff has looked at home since earning a spot They ll bounce back Luke Pomersbach is obviously the man of the moment for Brisbane He has scored 194 runs from 112 balls over the last two games and it can be argued that he single handedly gave the Heat a finals birth A 5 ball duck in the first game against Perth will see him determined to score big on his return to WA to prove some of his previous doubters wrong Joe Burns has recently provided perfect support to Pomersbach and he ll need more of the same if Brisbane wants to be competitive There will be minimal changes to either squad but Ben Cutting being released from the ODI squad is great news for the Heat He is Brisbane s leading wicket with 11 while also operating with the best economy rate 6 04 runs per over His late order hitting can also be a feature Alister McDermott has been an important wicket taking option since securing his spot back in the side with 8 wickets from 5 games and striking every 13 5 deliveries The Scorchers are difficult to beat at the Furnace For Brisbane to win they ll need to either get Marsh out cheaply or rely on Pomersbach to score large again With all that in mind I believe
