  • Northe continues fight for paper contracts – Russell Northe
and agencies Mr Northe has put a series of questions to the Minister for Finance Robin Scott in relation to a new Victorian Government office stationary contract that was awarded to Complete Office Supplies last month Mr Northe said concerns had been raised with him that the office supplies business appears to largely import copy paper from overseas It would be extremely disappointing if the State Government has awarded its contract to a contractor who principally uses overseas paper when we have a paper mill in our own backyard Mr Northe said The Andrews Government should ensure that this contract supports the purchase of locally made paper by its Departments and agencies which in turn will protect local jobs Australian Paper is an important key to our local economy and it s frustrating that governments invest in Australian Paper s infrastructure at Maryvale but aren t purchasing paper produced there Mr Northe raised the issue in Parliament again this week after a recent meeting with hundreds of Australian Paper employees and community members The meeting was an opportunity for myself and the Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester to hear from employees at Australian Paper and their main concern was the government procurement practices of choosing cheaper imported products over Australian made paper I will continue to work with the company union and employees in relation to these concerns Mr Northe said Media contact 5133 9088 Share this post Facebook Twitter Google LinkedIn Related posts Northe stands up for CFA volunteers April 29 2016 Nationals support Telstra Business Women s Awards April 28 2016 Budget a disappointment for Latrobe Valley April 27 2016 Upcoming Community Events Latrobe City Calendar of Events May 2016 April 28 2016 Got a story Tell Russell Your confidentiality and anonimity is assured Stay updated and
