for Latrobe Valley residents and businesses for some time Mr Northe said The ACCC have advised that they re aware of the consumer concerns about pricing anomalies where fuel retailers in some locations do not seem to have passed through lower prices Mr Northe said As part of the ACCC s new monitoring program they have advised that they ll be investigating regional towns in the first instance towns with the highest apparent pricing anomalies over an extended period will be targeted It is my strong view that the Latrobe Valley is ideally placed to be the subject of an ACCC investigation given these guidelines Mr Northe said the differences in petrol prices between city and country areas causes great frustration for motorists across Gippsland I share the concerns of local motorists with the inconsistency in petrol prices for Latrobe Valley motorists and it is time we had a more thorough look into exactly what is happening Mr Northe said Latrobe Valley residents have long bemoaned the inequity that appears to exist with respect to fuel prices in our region Federal Member for Gippsland Darren Chester has also written to the ACCC on the issue and welcomed early signs the watchdog would take a closer look at fuel price trends locally The ACCC is aware of long standing concerns of Gippsland motorists and it is encouraging they will be undertaking more timely and targeted monitoring of fuel price analysis particularly in regional areas Mr Chester said The ACCC is expected to announce later this month which regional locations it will target with further locations named in the following months and findings released throughout the year Media contact 5133 9088 Share this post Facebook Twitter Google LinkedIn Related posts Northe stands up for CFA volunteers April 29 2016 Nationals support Telstra

  • Labor neglects the Morwell community – Russell Northe
in the Andrews Labor Government after EPA monitoring equipment at Morwell South recently failed twice in two weeks Speaking in Parliament he said I was pleased to recently attend a thank you event to recognise the outstanding efforts of our emergency services volunteers and community organisations during the initial response to the fire and subsequent recovery supports In stark contrast one can t help but be disappointed in the Premier We all remember his outspoken criticism of all and sundry during and after the Hazelwood mine fire but where is the Premier now that under his watch local EPA air monitoring equipment has failed in recent weeks When the local community is seeking answers and confidence from the Government the now Premier whilst all talk in Opposition has been nowhere to be seen or heard on these issues This is simply a disgrace Mr Northe said Mr Andrews was a hypocrite given his political point scoring on matters pertaining to the Hazelwood mine fire when he was in Opposition compared to his lack of interest and actions now as Premier Many members of the local community are extremely disappointed that the Premier now seems to be uninterested in the Latrobe Valley when things go wrong under his Government when it comes to the Hazelwood mine fire The failure of EPA monitoring equipment over recent weeks is a prime example of this Mr Northe said In Opposition Daniel Andrews made a lot of statements and promises yet the now Premier seems content to pass the buck and that simply is not good enough Media contact 5133 9088 Share this post Facebook Twitter Google LinkedIn Related posts Northe stands up for CFA volunteers April 29 2016 Nationals support Telstra Business Women s Awards April 28 2016 Budget a disappointment for Latrobe Valley

  • Daniel Andrews must confirm funding for Latrobe River Bridge – Russell Northe
would receive funding Daniel Andrews needs to confirm with the community when the replacement of the bridge will happen given the importance of this work to local commuters Mr Northe said The former Coalition Government had previously provided 300 000 of funding to investigate replacing the ageing bridge so the initial work has been done The bridge is a vital road connection for both local commuters and industry in the area It was first built back in 1936 and has since had a number of minor strengthening upgrades to keep it open but we need a long term solution Daniel Andrews has been fast tracking billion dollar metro projects in Melbourne all week so he should add the Latrobe River Bridge to his fast track list and spread the investment to country Victoria s priorities Mr Northe said despite today s funding announcement he was disappointed to see the Andrews Labor Government had still failed to provide any additional roads and bridges funding to country communities Daniel Andrews is providing some funding for roads and bridges across regional Victoria not in smaller country towns Mr Northe said Today s funding does not replace the Coalition s Country Roads and Bridges Program in any way That program provided around 1 million each year to all 40 country councils so they could undertake priority road and bridge works Considering Daniel Andrews is happily spending 11 billion on the Melbourne Metro Rail Link 8 billion to remove Melbourne level crossings and 100 million to upgrade Melbourne s Flinders Street Station he needs to actually do something for country Victoria and continue the Country Roads and Bridges Program Media contact 5133 9088 Share this post Facebook Twitter Google LinkedIn Related posts Northe stands up for CFA volunteers April 29 2016 Nationals support Telstra Business
