across Victoria Daniel Andrews must ensure that the 73 million the Coalition Government previously allocated for the redevelopment of Latrobe Regional Hospital will be maintained in full Mr Northe said The 73 million accounted for in the 2014 2015 Coalition budget would fund a new emergency department and additional beds at the hospital which will increase capacity and reduce waiting times The investment would also ensure that those seeking access to basic hospital services or more specialised treatments such as cardiac care cancer care and elective surgery would receive world class care locally Mr Northe said whilst the Labor Government had made a small number of election promises for the township of Morwell it had virtually ignored the remainder of Gippsland I will be holding Mr Andrews to account to ensure he delivers on his commitments to our local community however given his recent form one shouldn t be too confident Mr Northe said In contrast to Labor the Coalition had committed prior to the 2014 election a range of community driven projects across all towns in the Morwell electorate Mr Northe said he would call upon the Labor Government to support these projects in the 2015 2016 budget The Andrews Government need only look at the Coalition s pre election commitments for the Morwell electorate for ideas about the region s needs and these included but are not limited to 9 million for the construction of a Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre in Traralgon V Line Rail upgrade package which includes 24 new weekly V Line services duplication of tracks additional carriages and removal of level crossings 13 million for the Morwell Primary Schools Regeneration Project 1 2 million to build a new fire station for Newborough CFA 100 000 towards the construction of a synthetic bowling green at Gaskin

  • Regional members petition for a better Gippsland rail service – Russell Northe
fewer services can be run than could be possible Often services are delayed waiting for the Longwarry to Bunyip section of track to clear and the short section of track is vital to reliability right down the Gippsland line said Mr Blackwood Edward O Donohue Member for Eastern Region said that the Gippsland region s growth in population warranted strong investment from the Andrews Government to boost access and frequency to public transport services Investing in our public transport network as the eastern region of our state grows is critical to ensure those who move beyond Pakenham have access to reliable and frequent public transport to and from Melbourne Our Government set in place a plan for the Gippsland growth corridor and to date the Andrews Government have given no similar commitment to increasing and supporting transport services Mr O Donohue said Mr Bull said there had been a clear message from his electorate of Gippsland East that additional Bairnsdale services committed to by the former Government were critical to commuters needs My office has been continually approached seeking support for additional peak and weekend services to and from Bairnsdale and we committed to that under our transport plan which supported Gippsland in 2014 russell northe parliament vic gov au www russellnorthe com au 66 George St Morwell VIC 3840 ph 03 5133 9088 fax 03 5133 9388 There is a strong feeling in the community everywhere I go that the Andrews Government is ignoring the needs of Gippsland East and its failure to support additional rail services to Bairnsdale only highlights those comments Mr Bull said Member for Eastern Region Melina Bath said the Governments current package to upgrade focus upgrades in the Cranbourne Pakenham Rail Corridor demonstrated that Labor had forgotten Gippsland Regional commuters have been forgotten by

  • Locals encouraged to attend ANZAC centenary services – Russell Northe
cross the sea to serve their country Mr Northe said Mr Northe said that from a population of less than five million more than 400 000 enlisted Of these young men and women more than 60 000 made the ultimate sacrifice whilst more than 156 000 were wounded gassed or taken prisoner he said ANZAC Day is not a day to glorify war but to remember those who have served our country during times of conflict and crisis and to reflect on their selfless sacrifice to ensure our freedom On 25 April every year we pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in the tragedy of war and remember the ANZAC legacy of courage mateship and sacrifice It is also a time to remember the deep emotional scars that many carried silently following this terrible time in our history and the impact of war on families spanning generations Mr Northe said ANZAC Day was an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by Australian servicemen and women not only during World War I but also to recognise all members of the Australian Defence Force who continue to serve around the world It is heartening though to see increasing numbers of people especially our younger generations attending ANZAC services paying tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedom and lifestyle we do he said Mr Northe also paid tribute to local RSL Clubs for their ongoing efforts in educating particularly our younger generations on what the ANZAC spirit means along with their hosting of local ANZAC day services Mr Northe will attend services at Boolarra on Friday and Traralgon Tyers Newborough and Morwell on Saturday Media contact 5133 9088 Share this post Facebook Twitter Google LinkedIn Related posts Northe stands up

  • Petition for Gippsland regional aquatic centre – Russell Northe
the facility is not up to community expectations Mr Northe said Latrobe City Council in its 10 year Financial Plan made a 12 million commitment towards the development of a 30 million Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre GRAC at the current Traralgon Swimming pool site However the development s progression was reliant upon both State and Federal Government funding Mr Northe said I was proud that the former Victorian Coalition Government had in 2014 made a 9 million pre election commitment to assist in the construction of a GRAC in Traralgon Disappointingly Labor has failed to provide even one dollar of election funding for the 28 000 residents of Traralgon including no support whatsoever for the GRAC development Mr Northe is now calling on the Andrews Labor Government to match the funding commitment of at least 9 million pledged by the Coalition as a State Government contribution to build the GRAC It s ludicrous that the Andrews Labor Government can waste 640 million on the East West link debacle yet can t find 9 million for the GRAC Ms Bath said a new Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre would allow local swimming enthusiasts to get on the blocks year round The centre will provide an exciting facility for competition and family recreation swimming in the region Mr Northe and Ms Bath are also calling on Latrobe City Council to review current plans for the GRAC If it is unrealistic that Council can secure the amount of State and Federal Government funding required to construct the GRAC then maybe a more modest version of a GRAC should be seriously considered to finally give the township of Traralgon their own public heated indoor facility that can be utilised 12 months of the year Copies of petitions can be obtained from my website http www
