  • 3,575 petition signatures call for Traralgon pool upgrade – Russell Northe
clear message to the Andrews Labor Government that our community requires assistance to upgrade our pool complex Mr Northe said Traralgon s population is around 28 000 people yet we don t have an all weather public swimming pool like other regional centres do Our current 50 metre outdoor pool was opened in 1959 over half a century ago and it is outdated and underused There are some terrific indoor aquatic centres in other parts of regional Victoria that get used all year round for fitness and competition for teaching kids to swim in a safe place and for rehabilitation as well as other activities and events In last year s election campaign the Liberal Nationals Coalition pledged 9 million to support Latrobe City Council s proposal for a 30 million Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre project The Andrews Labor Government has not pledged any funding or support for upgrading Traralgon s pool Our petition shows there is very strong support for upgrading Traralgon s pool and I hope the Labor Government notes the huge number of signatures and gets behind this terrific project with some funding Mr Northe said Ms Bath said it was disappointing the pledge by the Liberal Nationals Coalition was not matched during last year s election campaign but it wasn t too late for the Andrews Labor Government to get onboard Russell and I will keep pushing for State government funds I am always asked about funding for the pool redevelopment whenever I am in and around Traralgon and the petition we ve taken to Parliament this week is further proof of our community s strong interest and support Ms Bath said Media contact 5133 9088 Share this post Facebook Twitter Google LinkedIn Related posts Northe stands up for CFA volunteers April 29 2016 Nationals support
