    of the Barossa s ancient soils striving to express the individual place each vine grows Our wines are on the whole earthy and structured to express the vibrancy of fruit for which the Barossa Valley is world famous Greenock Vineyard These 35 acres of vineyard frame our Winery and Tasting Room Originally this site was home to the Nenke family with vines planted in the 1940 s Since that time vineyard plantings have been developed with the latest 8 acres of Mataro planted as bush vine in 2004 This vineyard is dry grown and as a result provides wines sourced from this vineyard with a unique seasonal character Location Murray Street Greenock on the North West side of the Barossa Climate Warm Summers Cool Winters with night time temperatures ranging from 2ºC to 30 ºC and daytime temperatures 12 ºC to 45 ºC Rainfall Average 460mm per annum Soil Type Deep red clay with the occasional pockets of ironstone and sandy loam Varieties Shiraz Grenache Mataro Semillon Aspect East west rows on a southerly facing slope Gomersal Vineyard The development of this vineyard in 2001 was the beginning of the journey for Murray Street Vineyards We set about planting 90 acres of vineyard in soil that brought much excitement to everyone involved in the project Planting a vineyard on soils as extreme and old as those of the Gomersal Region is extraordinary and to think that the vines may outlive even our grandchildren is extremely humbling Location Gomersal Road Gomersal on the north western ridge of the Barossa Valley Climate Warm Summers Cool Winters with night time temperatures ranging from 2ºC to 30 ºC and daytime temperatures 12 ºC to 45 ºC Rainfall Average 510mm per annum Soil Type The soils vary quite dramatically as you tour around the vineyard

    both the MSV Black Label brands Craig is perfectly placed to oversee and further develop these award winning wines Craig started his career in the wine industry at Two Hands Wines working vintage in 2006 moving to Murray Street Vineyards shortly afterwards In 2008 the opportunity to work an overseas vintage beckoned so Craig packed his bags and travelled to Walla Walla Valley in Washington State This was part of an international winemaker swap with L Ecole No 41 enabling the two wineries to share information and technical expertise Craig s philosophy of winemaking is that with careful nurturing in the vineyard and attention to detail in the winery the results will show in the finished wine Craig takes a hands on approach to running the winery as he has the ability to execute the technical aspects of winemaking while still being very active in the day to day operations Craig brings a depth of knowledge of the Barossa and his passion for quality winemaking to Murray Street Vineyards When not making wine at Murray Street Vineyards Craig spend his time with his wife and young family surfing in Maui and maintaining his collection of Kombi vans Ask the Winemaker
