plant by 30 percent The investment of more than SEK 30 million will provide more effective production with improved quality assurance and shorter delivery times The strong demand for our forestry machines led us to make this decision With the growing global market we want to be sure we can meet our customers future demands explains Hideki Yamada CEO of Komatsu Forest The new production facilities should be completed in March next year Moreover the entire reorganization will be implemented alongside full scale production which places heavy demands on preparation work The expansion includes moving over to so called paced production with set assembly time intervals Further the number of workflows will be reduced in machine and head production Paced production will halve the build time for each machine Pre assembly will also be introduced in the reorganization This means that a large part of each machine will be assembled and quality assured before final assembly As a result final assembly will require fewer steps Production is to be strengthened by a quality assurance group that will test and tune completed machines to further improve quality In this context having access to our owner Komatsu s production expertise and quality

reports on their production MaxiHarvester 3 7 is Valmet s latest software package in the Maxi system and includes a range of new functions One of the most important new features is that it complies with the new procedure for quality assured harvester measurement which improves the accuracy of harvester measurement data created by the machine and its driver Quality assured harvester measurement means that the driver still measures the logs as a control with computer calipers although a range of new functions have been developed and added MaxiHarvester 3 7 selects a sample tree at random which it will then measure as a control The driver is alerted that the tree is a sample tree once a section of the trunk has been processed although at this stage the machine measured values are not visible to the driver The control files that are created after the sample trees are measured can then be sent to the employer or to a third party for analysis of length and diameter measurements Another new feature is regression calibration which quite simply allows greater accuracy when calibrating the entire diameter range despite being quick to use and requiring relatively few measurement values The
