  • Open Source Startup Group | James Purser
The first one was less than successful and yet and enjoyable time was had so we decided to have another go at it At the second attempt we managed to actually talk about running an Open Source Startup One of the upshots of that was the suggestion that a mailing list be setup to try and keep the communication up After some thought I decided that it would probably be

  • First Day In Hobart | James Purser
ve enjoyed my time in Hobart so far The trip down was interesting especially once we started to fly over Tasmania It was amazingly obvious how much logging actually happens in Tasmania from the height we were flying at The contrast between unlogged areas and those that had been thinned out was stark Once we arrived at Hobart Airport I haven t had to walk the tarmac after getting off a plane for a looong time I caught the Airport Shuttle Bus at 15 00 it s not bad value to the University Accomodation That s when the pain started I thought that the walk from the accom to conference in Sydney was long and tiring however it has now been beaten by the slope heading up to the UTAS accomodation Looking up from where the bus had left me I drudged on towing my luggage behind me After a long and arduous climb I finally made my way to the top and checked in I ve been taking a few photos as I go along however in a moment of true genius I forgot the data cable from the camera to the laptop and the so called multi card

  • Some Random Thoughts | James Purser
so I thought I would take the opportunity to post some random thoughts Went into Town yesterday and had a bit of a look around Hobart is still very much a town rather than a city Smaller than my home town of Wollongong it doesn t have that city vibe to it Grabbed a few things for the accomodation while I was out and saw yet another womans magazine celebrating the fact that a celebrity had lost weight after a pregnancy Sigh I m glad I took up Arjens offer of accomodation It s been interesting and entertaining Last night was curry night and it was still going when I went to bed about 1 00am LCA Proper starts today just looking at the schedule to determine what I want to see The PHP and Django talks conflict which is a bit of a pain in the butt But such is LCA Obama get s inauggerated today It ll be interesting to see how the Obama presidency pans out given that he s sold himself as the vehicle of change and all that I need more sleep but if I sleep now I ll sleep in and miss conference bits

01 2009 09 48 I m sitting here watching Michael Still give his talk on mythnettv and I ve got to say that I m impressed At the moment it s strictly command line I believe there is a gtk UI for mythbuntu but that s not true Myth Integration however it does offer what I think is a better way to integrate traditional media and the new media arena
