going to get you elected or re elected So the focus isn t on true policy debate but rather carefully stage managed release cycles that minimise the amount of time a policy is in the public space able to be deconstructed and examined We get policy by sound bite We want a mature debate This has been creeping up lately In the context it seems to be used where ever the government has not gotten it s own way on a policy so they then pull it back and say they ll re release it when they can have a more mature debate which really means we screwed the pooch and people didn t like it so we ll forget it for a while then see if we can slip it back out there Actually this has also become one of the favourite phrases of everyone s friendly communications minister In this context it appears to mean Why is everyone picking on me Why do they keep pointing out that my policy won t work He s a real man Little tip here if you have to keep pointing out how real your man is there is a very good chance that he isn t Well that s just some of the phrases that are bugging me at the moment I m sure others have more and I ll add more when I come across them Blog Catagories General James Purser s blog Add new comment Comments Working families Permalink Submitted by Peter on Mon 19 04 2010 15 43 They ve only been concerned about working families for a while now I m single with no dependents but the government are still intent on protecting my children by filtering my internet connection reply hidden messages Permalink Submitted by Russell

running on Windows Vista Permalink Submitted by Penthos on Wed 16 09 2009 00 05 BIG UPS to James for taking the time to create these instructions I d be at this for days without them Couple of tips from my experience with it Make sure the Java version you compile the WRS Server with is the same as the one your Java Runtime environment is using I already had JRE installed before installing the SDK and after building the Server JARs using ANT I tried to start the server again and got a version error Only after completely unistalling and removing all Java program files and then downloading and reinstalling the JAVA SDK the regular one not the fancy EE SDK with Glassfire like I did initially was I able to properly build the WRS Server and move on The WAVESERVER DISABLE SIGNER VERIFICATION command line parameter is missing from the run server bat file provided above When trying to start the server I was getting an error that the WAVESERVER DISABLE SIGNER VERIFICATION need a value Adding WAVESERVER DISABLE SIGNER VERIFICATION true to the end of the run server bat

another planet not just our celestial partner but a whole other world Today we are told that it s better to send probes and rovers to other worlds Less of a risk cheaper and so on Feh I say The USSR sent a probe to the moon then the US sent two men to the moon which is more inspiring Which is more likely to stir the blood So yes From the earth to the moon is an inspiring series it details what can be done when there is the will to move forward and achieve something great However it s also depressing to see where the evaporation of that will has left us Blog Catagories Space James Purser s blog Add new comment Comments I blame inflation Permalink Submitted by Andrew Pollock on Wed 17 03 2010 12 52 I blame inflation reply Recommendation and an explanation Permalink Submitted by Amos on Wed 17 03 2010 13 40 My wife bought me NASA s When we left Earth about the same story only probably more factual and broader from the Gemini program up to how the Hubble was fixed It was a birthday present since I was born on the very day that Apollo 11 landed back on earth I highly recommend it I watched the entire series at least 3 times now and I hardly find time to watch TV in general so it must say something I haven t watched Tom Hanks work though The bottom line they say there or in one of the appendixes is that the Apollo program took something around 4 of the natioanl GDP for USA while it was running and the oil crisis in the early 70 s made it impossible to sustain It s a shame anyway that s true

but by genre and programme as well This is what 250 million dollars buys you these days From the article and the reading around that I ve done it appears that the Free To Air Television industry somewhat bizzarley aided by the ABC an organisation that has proven time and again that it knows where the future lies has decided that the best way to tackle the threat of extinction is to re arrange the deck chairs on the titanic People have had the ability to record programmes based on genre and programme titles episode titles and so on for a few years now If they haven t been building their own PVR s via projects like MythTV my personal favourite they ve been using off the shelf solutions such as TiVO It s not new people it s old and people have been doing it for a long time now Hell I was there when digital came to a certain regional television network I helped setup their first EPG generator and I can tell you that the Standard of the day derived from the European DVB T EPG stuff required genre information to be sent out Oh yes there is something new about this particular EPG service It s not going to be standard In order for you to take advantage of it and the attached Online Catchup Service you are going to need to buy new hardware Your set top box isn t going to be able to use any of the new features and certainly your plasma led lcd tv with built in HD tuner isn t going to be able to utilise the new features being offered Nope you re going to have to go out and spend another couple of hundred bucks so that you
