  • Stop using Autism to push your own brand of lunacy | James Purser
crap No one credible has been able to replicate the findings and now we re reaping the benefits of a drop in vaccinations namely the sharp rise in diseases such as Pertusis Measles and so on Now we have PETA latching onto Autism to push their brand of militant veganism They re claiming that Dairy products can either cause or exacerbate the symptoms of Autism Mind you if you have a look at the article itself they don t actually link to any scientific reports that link dairy and autism Hell they don t even link out of their own site every single damn link is to another page on the PETA website You know what I m sick and tired of people picking Autism to push their own barrow Autism is a hugely complex set of problems that ranges from high functioning autism disorders such as Aspergers through to Rain Man type Autism and beyond To try and claim that you have all the answers with no or dodgy science to back you up is worse than fraudulent it s cruel You hold out false hope for parents and family If you really care about kids with Autism then

  • Apparently I lack a Moral Compass, oh and ethics classes | James Purser
I do I insist on politeness and respect please and thank you it s not hard I also try to teach them how to critically examine issues they come across and come to a conclusion based on the evidence and their own moral frameworks And yes I do punish them when they do the wrong thing That is part of the process of teaching them right from wrong This isn t the first time I ve been accused of being amoral due to my lack of belief A long time ago I was attending a Scout Leaders course to help out a Scout Group who had recently lost their leader a man I greatly respected At the course I was informed that leaders had to have faith in a deity It didn t matter which deity you just had to have faith in something When I informed them I was an atheist I was accused by several of the other participants of being a nihlist which is something else entirely by the way The upshot was that if I wanted to be a leader I would have to essentially lie about my belief or lack thereof As I said at the beginning of this post I don t hate people of faith I know many people who are religious to some degree or another and I get along fine with them heck we even share many of the same morals and ethics The only difference between me and them is belief or lack of it Ethics Classes in NSW What brought the above on by the way was the ongoing argument over the future of the proposed ethics classes in the New South Wales While the Labor govt is seeking to legislate their existance being a late convert to the cause the Coalition has promised to remove them once they get in and sorry to any Labor supporters reading this your chances of retaining govt next year are miniscule In their ongoing fight against the ethics classes one of the arguments that the churches I say churches because it s been mainly the Anglican and Catholic churches have been running is that the ethics classes are fatally flawed because they don t have a moral heart The idea being that because the classes are not based in religious teachings they cannot possibly be moral Sigh Blog Catagories personal religion James Purser s blog Add new comment Comments Foundations of Belief Permalink Submitted by Michael Davies on Thu 02 12 2010 12 33 Hey James I agree with your premise that Lack of Faith Lack of Moral Compass But the question I have is what is your ethical framework based upon As a Christian my ethical framework is based around God s Word the Bible I would respectfully suggest that your moral compass does indeed follow the teachings of the bible to some extent do not lie steal cheat murder etc So while you might not yet be a person of
