With our new friend we would simply watch the drawings in awe at the simplicity and artistry before we would even try to guess the word even if we knew what it was early on Tonight was one of the best nights playing the game with my daughter on fire guessing harder and harder words getting her spelling right but we were treated to images drawn with skill This is an amazing app for students to talk and explore the idea of words and conveying for meaning Comments 1 Trackbacks 0 Permalink Technology and Rememberance 11 9 2011 Tony Richards Sunday September 11 2011 It is 10 years since the events in America that changed the world I can still clearly remember the evening I was working as the Executive Officer for ICTEV formerly CEGV and that evening I had completed some work on Databases for the association I was about to go to bed and decided to check the TV just in case I was missing something I didn t miss anything I flicked across the channels and on had a breaking news story of a plane crashing into one of the World Trade Centre buildings and there was discussion around what type of plane it could have been then without any warning a second plane quickly loomed into the camera view and with then hit the second building the rest we all know about Given it is ten years since this event it happened to be pure coincidence that I have been reading well listening too the book I m Feeling Lucky The Confessions of Google Employee Number 59 and today I have come across the part of the book that looks at Google s reaction t 9 11 It is interesting to hear some of the decisions

the ABC s Pool webiste http pool abc net au Pool is an experimental collaborative online media platform under development by the Australian Broadcasting Commission ABC in association with various Australian tertiary institutions and members of the digital media community The idea behind the Pool has lots of potential and the ability for our students to use it seems promising Contributors can publish download remix and share media in such forms as Film and video Music and audio Visual art and photography Animation Design Interactive media Website design and Text The site also contains a forum where ideas can be shared and relationships forged Artists can use Pool as a place to connect and collaborate on common creative projects as well as build community interest in the digital industries During my session I used the following video as a way to introduce my talks and the concept of changing the way we look at things whilst the video appears fictitious it stems from a real story and highlights the need for all of us to change our view of things from time to time After the event I received the following email from a participant it is always great to get feedback but even better to have provided a session of value Thank you for the links Tony You have a very natural effective teaching style and the session went far too quickly because it was so interesting The Links to the session can be found on the follow Google Site constructed for the day click here Comments 0 Trackbacks 0 Permalink Previous 1 Next Recent Posts EdGalaxy com Plagiarist Cyber Smarts Feedback Safer Internet Day A few left links from the left field Google Certified Apps for Education Trainer Google Apps for Education Sydney Summit Follow Up on Student
