resources and website when OUT of school all these functions are back on The idea has even been trialled and looking for further development Very simplistic I like the idea around this project and activity I do think that mobile communication has a place in school be it with texting bluetooth or some yet to be developed tool We just need to have the right tools to use for communication and examples and strategies for schools teachers and students on how it can be simply implemented This clip makes you think differently about the use of mobiles I like that Comments 0 Trackbacks 0 Permalink Teaching with TED Tony Richards Sunday March 22 2009 The other day I presented a professional learning session on 21st Century tools the idea of the activity was to look at ICT tools that teachers could use to engage students and challenge their thinking and teaching I was not focusing on curriculum directly as this was the skill participants brought to the session I wanted to look at the tools and software that could help them develop their knowledge skills and capabilities I was very happy with the session as i think that the majority of participants were able to get something out of the day What I was surprised at was the lack of exposure to TED and the ideas and resources located on this site After showing a number of videos and recommending a few as must watch I also pointed participants to a site I have recently come across called Teaching with TED This site is a great place to start looking at the various options and ideas that can be introduced to students and teachers alike using the TED conference videos as a starting point Comments 0 Trackbacks 0 Permalink Previous

at hand one which they had selected in groups of 2 or 3 see previous post So how did it all pan out At the start of the day I had worked out with the class teachers 4 students that would not be directly involved in group work but would be assigned to record the day These students were asked to come in a little earlier so we could make sure things were sorted for the day I had five forms of recording the day photos via camera video via iPod touch video via Flip camera and audio via microphone recorder with the fifth element being a GoPro camera capturing still images every 30 sec The following video is a slide show put together using some of the still images taken by my recorders on the day I say some of the photos as these students didn t hold back on taking photos at the end of the day there were over 1300 images captured from the day There will be more artefacts from the day as we get them downloaded and edited Check back here in the next few days with more details about the day and the amazing work that the students created Comments 0 Trackbacks 0 Permalink Comments Post has no comments Post a Comment Name Website optional Email Address Enter Word Verification in box below Your comment Trackback Link http www itmadesimple com au BlogRetrieve aspx BlogID 5876 PostID 312136 A Trackback Trackbacks Post has no trackbacks Previous Next Recent Posts EdGalaxy com Plagiarist Cyber Smarts Feedback Safer Internet Day A few left links from the left field Google Certified Apps for Education Trainer Google Apps for Education Sydney Summit Follow Up on Student Cyber Safety Day Student Cyber Safety Day Google Apps for Education New
