bets of the week Sydney 1 55 vs Collingwood Everybody will tell you that it s been a long time since the Swans have had victory against the Pies In the next sentence they will tell you that they don t play that way at the Olympic Stadium I like to look at this in another light they are due Swans by a couple of goals North Melbourne 1 67 vs Essendon Gilbert McAdam reckons this game will be a draw I reckon he is right in terms of it being close but North with will be too strong with an in form Petrie up front Roosters 1 80 v Parramatta Now for some real footy Parra have shown signs of life in the last few weeks but I think the Roosters especially with Pearce firing will be should be stronger in nearly every position Tigers 1 60 v St George I loved betting against the Dragons last week when Soward was dropped Absolutely ridiculous sometimes players make mistakes because they actually try things Without Soward they had no options He is back but I still think the Tigers score too many points for the Dragons Broncos 10 0 1

7 North Melbourne 11 7 They have quietly gone about their business in the last eight weeks winning seven times now holding seventh spot by the barest of percentage differentials They play Essendon and Fremantle over the next three weeks the outcomes of those games are likely to decide their finals fate 8 Fremantle 11 7 A huge win against the Eagles on Saturday finally put them on the board against top six teams in 2012 If they can steal a road win against the Crows this week their finals prospects improve substantially 9 Essendon 11 7 The B side Bombers were courageous in Adelaide but will no doubt feel like they let a huge chance get away With no easy games left on their schedule it will take a strong effort over the final four weeks to squeeze into the final eight 9 St Kilda 9 9 Lost in the noise of all the close losses suffered by Richmond is this the Saints are 0 4 in games decided by less than two goals this season 11 Carlton 9 9 Now two games and a decent chunk of percentage shy of eighth place the Blues look to be all but done for 2012 Attention now turns to the future of Brett Ratten 12 Richmond 8 10 The win over Brisbane on Saturday night will come as little consolation in a season that promised so much but fell short once again 13 Brisbane 7 11 They re still a long way short of pressing for a finals berth but there may still be a couple more wins left in their season which would be strong progress from their 4 18 record of 2011 14 Western Bulldogs 5 13 They ve lost their last seven straight games by an average of

consider recent injury suspension issues coupled with the losses reading at Collingwood Sydney at Adelaide things don t seem as dire Patersons Stadium needs to be their fortress if they are to squeeze into the top four 6 Geelong 11 6 They looked more like the Cats circa 2007 2011 in dismantling Essendon a fortnight ago before a strong win over Adelaide Their run home looks devilishly tough on paper However since Round Three their only losses have come against Sydney Adelaide and Collingwood twice 7 North Melbourne 10 7 Six wins from their last seven matches has left them in control of their own finals destiny Allowing Drew Petrie plenty of space in the modern version of Pagan s Paddock looks a smart tactical move 8 Fremantle 10 7 They ve lost all six games so far this season against teams currently in the top six but are 10 1 against the remainder of the competition If they maintain that form line until season s end they would finish on 13 wins and be rather unlucky if that were insufficient to make the finals Round 21 against North Melbourne looms as the critical match 9 St Kilda 9 8 They ve played some good footy during the first year of Scott Watters tenure as head coach but may rue early season losses to the Power and the Dockers at home when the final eight resolves itself on the first weekend in September 10 Essendon 11 6 The Bombers have some genuine cause for concern after receiving three beltings by a combined margin of 232 points in the space of four weeks With Richmond the lowest placed of the opponents left on their schedule a ticket to September hasn t been punched just yet 11 Carlton 9 8 This season s biggest underachievers and yet they could still squeeze into the finals with a strong finish over the next five weeks The win over Richmond was a real character builder but they must maintain momentum against the Swans this week 12 Richmond 7 10 The Tigers are now 1 5 in games decided by less than two goals in 2012 When you re an up and coming side with a poor record in recent years you can t afford a statistic like that This will feel like the year that got away for many at Punt Road 13 Brisbane 7 10 They re winning the games that they should while providing reasonable opposition for the higher quality line ups last Sunday at Patersons Stadium notwithstanding There may still be another two or three wins left in their season a strong improvement from a 4 18 record last year 14 Western Bulldogs 5 12 There are plenty of growing pains ahead for Brendan McCartney and the Whitten Oval faithful given the remainder of their draw a 5 17 record come season s end is a distinct possibility 15 Port Adelaide 5 12 A win over Melbourne two rounds ago offered some

team generally banged up things don t look to be getting any better soon The Packers on the other hand are starting to come into their own and should score freely against the hapless Colts This should be a blowout Seattle 2 36 v Carolina The Seahawks don t have a great record on the road and this is the only reason I can think of as to why they are not at least small favourites If Cam Newton fires I guess the Panthers could be a chance but against one of the best defences in the league this is doubtful Oh and I expect Lynch to run for about 200 yards Chicago 4 5 1 90 v Jacksonville I guess I am taking a bit of a risk taking another team on the road but on the recent form of both sides I think this is not the worst bet you could make this weekend Maurice Jones drew is the only highlight for the Jags and so the Bears will construct their defence around this Jay Cutler can be found out under pressure but the Jags won t worry him too much Minnesota 1 41 v Tennessee The Vikings

since the Hawks have had such favouritism and they deserve every bit of it The Pies are still a great side but will struggle to keep up with a clinical performance by the Hawks North Qld 1 42 v Brisbane I think the Cows are still flying under the radar this year Their main weakness has been their away form but even this was given a boost after a great performance against a decent Sharks outfit on the weekend At home the Cows will beat a Broncos side making up the numbers this weekend South Africa 3 5 1 78 v Australia What can I say I can t help myself when it comes to betting against the Wallabies I don t expect it to be the drubbing that they received against the All Blacks but given that the Western Australia home ground advantage is not worth as much and the South Africans are a good strong rugby side I really rate them a good chance to win Green Bay 5 0 1 93 v San Francisco For anyone wondering this is NFL and it is my most successful sport for multis The Packers were the best team last year Aaron Rodgers was the best Quarterback and the offence was pretty good I don t reckon much will change in 2012 The 49ers were and still are a great defensive team but at home I just think the Packers score too many points for the 49ers to chase down Baltimore 6 0 1 87 v Cincinnati Of course it is too early to make outlandish predictions but I rate the Ravens as a really good chance this year They still have a great running game but the throwing game is also on the rise I do like city of Cincinnati
