On the weekend after a difficult experience with a telco I was angry and tired and disappointed and then I chose to walk into my favourite make up shop new lipstick should fix my mood right where I have always received excellent service True to form the young woman greeted me cheerfully and began asking me some great quality questions even though I had just come for a bottle of foundation and a lipstick Her sales processes wasn t flawless although it was good and I didn t buy more than I came for however I walked away feeling less like I had run an errand and more like I had invested in myself I also made a mental note to go back and buy the spray on foundation once I had tested it out Later that day I attended a flower farm open day and the owners of the farm Bernie and Virginia made a great effort to engage with each and every visitor and thank them for coming to their first ever open day They answered all the questions that they had probably answered a million times that day with the enthusiasm that a venture such as a flower farm demands They invited you into the giftshop not simply wait for you to walk in They explained that the beautiful scarves were handmade by the Bernie s mother that the wombat shortbread was made in the kitchen I felt inspired again I believed in people s ability to apply their passion and share it with others Why Why was this so different to the telco I felt valued and connected In today s urban communities we often engage with strangers who transact with us They don t know us and they don t always care to The faster
