    Releases Boeing Media Room Current Market Outlook News Releases Boeing s Final Design for Wedgetail AEW C Airborne Mission Segment Accepted by Australia Acceptance completes acquisition of Airborne Early Warning and Control aircraft and mission systems Seattle December 20 2012 The Commonwealth of Australia has completed its acquisition of six Boeing NYSE BA 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control AEW C aircraft and related mission systems by accepting the final design of the Wedgetail airborne mission segment The Royal Australian Air Force RAAF operates the aircraft which provide Australia with advanced airborne surveillance communications and battle management Australia has worked closely with Boeing and its industry partners to deliver a world class Airborne Early Warning and Control capability said Air Vice Marshal Chris Deeble Wedgetail program manager Defence Materiel Organisation The performance of the Wedgetail in recent high end coalition exercises indicates that we are delivering a cutting edge warfighting capability to the RAAF The collaboration between the RAAF Boeing and our suppliers is proof that a strong government industry partnership can do great things said Rick Heerdt Boeing vice president and program manager Airborne Surveillance Command and Control A robust support program is now in place to ensure Wedgetail s long term service and success Besides six AEW C aircraft the Wedgetail program also includes ground support segments such as the Operational Flight Trainer Operational Mission Simulator and Mission Support System All are located in the AEW C Support Centre at RAAF Base Williamtown in Newcastle Boeing completed delivery of four AEW C aircraft to the Republic of Korea in 2012 Four additional AEW C aircraft are in production for Turkey A unit of The Boeing Company Boeing Defense Space Security is one of the world s largest defense space and security businesses specializing in innovative and capabilities driven

    training posts at the Oakey Army Aviation Centre for Gold Coast beach patrols as part of a unique arrangement between BDA and Surf Life Saving Queensland SLSQ The Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service provided three day training sessions for 12 BDA helicopter instructors on its EC135 aircraft giving them hands on experience with the aircraft Boeing has offered in a bid for the Australian Defence Force s Helicopter Aircrew Training System HATS program The SLSQ plans to use the funds earned from the BDA training to invest in equipment upgrades The training provided an opportunity for BDA to experience the Eurocopter EC135 s capabilities in a variety of real life situations said Mark Brownsey BDA Army Aviation Training and Training Support AATTS project manager The program is part of our pilot engagement strategy which allows BDA instructors to update their skills on a modern aircraft to support our partnership with the Australian Army The BDA flight instructors on the AATTS program currently provide basic flight training to Australian Army pilots using Kiowa aircraft and more than 100 pilots have graduated from the program in the past five years HATS is a follow on contract to AATTS and will provide training to Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army pilots The training partnership between Boeing and SLSQ has provided an excellent opportunity for our pilots to share information about this very capable technologically advanced twin engine aircraft said Peter Bird chief pilot for the Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service Queensland BDA s training investment will help the SLSQ fund ongoing equipment upgrades for the service so it can continue to provide this important public service along the Gold and Sunshine coasts Boeing Defence Australia a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company and a business unit of Boeing Defense Space Security is

    UGS technology and development with its UGS deployed in widespread service with the U S Department of Defense Department of Energy and a range of international customers The McQ iScout sensor provides battlefield proven covert low power and long endurance sensing capability with best in class low false alarm rates Insitu Pacific engineers successfully integrated the ScanEagle UAS and the McQ UGS to enable UGS target detection alerts to be automatically displayed within ScanEagle s Insitu multiple UAS software environment I MUSE operating system as new targets This is an excellent demonstration of the operational flexibility of the systems that Insitu Pacific can provide as well as the synergies that can be gained from linking UAS and UGS in complex surveillance scenarios said Insitu Pacific Managing Director Andrew Duggan We believe this newly proven capability offers an ideal solution for flexible base or perimeter surveillance on operations in places like Afghanistan or in border protection type roles Once a target is detected the iScout sensor automatically sends a notification to the UAS system operator by displaying the target location detection type seismic magnetic acoustic or infrared and other relevant information on the ScanEagle operator s I MUSE graphic user interface GUI The operator is then able to automatically focus the ScanEagle s sensors on the new contact to verify the data provided by iScout and OmniWatch and continue to track the target once it has moved beyond the OmniWatch camera range The integration of McQ sensor technology with Insitu UAS will enable a rapid and simple enhancement of overall situational awareness for commanders in the field said McQ Inc President John McQuiddy McQ is pleased to be working with Insitu Pacific and we are excited to have our iScout and OmniWatch products integrated with ScanEagle on a technical and operational
